The Conference of Parties (COP), at its 16th session in Cancun, Mexico agreed upon a registry to record Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMAs) seeking international support, to facilitate the matching of finance, technology and capacity-building support for their implementation (1/CP.16, paragraph 53, & 2/CP.17, paragraph 45). As NAMAs can be considered to be one of the vehicles to implement low-carbon development strategies as well as other national and local climate change action plans, the registration needs to be easily accessible. However, it should be emphasised that the online platform must not only be able to match donors and projects but also be flexible enough to manage the wide variety of NAMA submissions.
Under the UNFCCC NAMA Registry one can find a brief description of the registry, including its sections and functions, an overview of the information on NAMAs as well as support to be submitted by the National Focal Points or representatives from organisations.
